Advanced Duct Sealing with Aeroseal in Monterey County

Make Your Home More Efficient and Comfortable

Seal Air Leaks and Improve Efficiency with Aeroseal

Dealing with high utility bills, uneven temperatures, stuffy rooms, or excess dust in your home? Your ductwork could be part of the problem.

At Associated Services, we provide professional duct sealing and insulation services throughout Monterey County to help forced-air heating and cooling systems operate more efficiently and deliver comfort more evenly throughout your home.

When ductwork has leaks, gaps, or poor connections, a significant amount of conditioned air can be lost before it ever reaches the rooms you want to heat or cool.

A properly sealed duct system can improve comfort, increase energy efficiency, reduce wasted air, and help create a cleaner, more balanced indoor environment.

What Associated Services Does During a Duct System Improvement

We take a whole-system approach to improving duct performance, comfort, and efficiency throughout your home.

  1. Inspect the full duct system, including accessible attic, basement, and crawlspace areas

  2. Evaluate supply and return airflow balance

  3. Repair damaged, disconnected, kinked, or crushed ductwork

  4. Seal leaks and connections using proven sealing materials

  5. Secure and seal registers and grilles

  6. Insulate ducts in unconditioned spaces to reduce energy loss

  7. Include filtration improvements when needed

  8. Test airflow after repairs are completed

  9. Perform safety checks when combustion equipment is present

3 Easy Steps To Gain Efficiency

Step 1: Prep & Test

System Preparation and BlockingTo begin, foam plugs are placed in the registers to temporarily block them, forcing air in the ductwork to escape through any leaks. The air conditioning coil, fan, and furnace are also blocked with foam plugs to keep sealant particles from entering and affecting this part of the HVAC system.

Connecting the Aeroseal System to Ductwork

Once the system is prepped, the Aeroseal machine is connected to the ductwork with lay-flat tubing. A small access hole is cut into the supply or return duct (this will be sealed when the project is complete), and a temporary collar is attached. One end of the tubing connects to this collar, while the other connects to the Aeroseal machine, creating a sealed connection ready for the sealing process.

Pretest Duct Work

The Aeroseal system begins with a pretest, which pressurizes the duct system to measure and display the exact amount of leakage in real time. This initial reading provides an accurate measure of duct leakage, which is often between 25-40% in a typical home. The pretest results allow for precise adjustments to improve duct efficiency during the sealing process.

Step 2: Seal & Measure

Leaky Ducts are Found

When the Aeroseal system identifies leaky ducts, a specialized aerosol sealant is injected into the ductwork as a fine mist. Under pressurization, this mist is directed towards any holes and cracks in the duct system, allowing for targeted sealing of these problem areas. This process helps to effectively close off leaks, improving the overall efficiency and performance of the ductwork.

Sealant Seals the DuctworkThe aerosol particles gather along the edges of holes and cracks in the ductwork, gradually building up to seal leaks from the inside out. This internal sealing method ensures effective coverage and improved efficiency throughout the system.

Monitoring the ProcessThe entire sealing process is computer-controlled, allowing technicians to monitor progress in real time. They can watch as the system displays a minute-by-minute reduction in leakage, ensuring precise results and a tightly sealed duct system.

Step 3: Enjoy the Comfort and Energy Savings

Certificate of Completion

After the sealing process is finished, homeowners receive a computer-generated certificate of completion. This document provides verifiable proof of the results, including before and after measurements of duct leakage from the Aeroseal application.

Instant Results

Homeowners will experience immediate improvements once the project is completed. Temperatures throughout the home become more consistent, with hot and cold spots eliminated. The HVAC system will operate more efficiently, which can reduce utility bills. Additionally, indoor air quality is enhanced, with less dust, fewer allergens, and cleaner air circulating through the home.
